I passed

I took the exam today and passed. I have a great sense of relief and will post the rest of my notes on the theories and other pieces I used as a study guide. I am going on vacation first though...

Congrats!! :) I have been reading along with your blog, I am going to test at the end of August. Do you have a study guide for loan or sale now?

Melanie-

I am keeping my study guides in case I am ever supervising someone who will be taking the test. Since, shipping them would be cost prohibitive at this point in time, I would recommend asking a supervisor in your area whether they kept their study guides. If not, I got mine on ebay for a good deal cheaper than through AATBS. I also still had access to the practice exams.

I had my guides for about a month before my test and found them a bit unwieldy, the amount of info they contain is staggering. I also felt the questions didn't follow the types of questions on the exam, though they did follow the content. Sorry, that I can't help by providing the guides, but I will post the rest of my study notes here and they will cover a good portion of the theories, as well as some of the ethics and speical populations material.

I took my exam today and I failed! By 4 points! I think I would have felt better if it had been by 50 points. I took a prep course held in Indianapolis. I thought I was prepared, but I now have the next 90 days to re-group and try again. I'm looking for any recommendations for study guides.

Has anyone tried ASWB's study guide as well as their online practice exam? I've failed 4 times using SWES and AATBS. Thinking about trying ASWB next...any thoughts. Oh, Niebuhrian, you are absoultely right about AATBS. The questions were far from the questions on the exam. In fact, the questions on the exam were simpler which decreased my self-confidence after using AATBS online practice exam. They were somewhat helpful in content areas such as learning theories, DSM IV diagnosis.

I passed using AATBS. Before using their material I failed twice. I also went to the seminar which helped too. Just my opinion.

Hello,

I found this site tonight while doing a search on LCSW. Word has it that a person can take their exam before they actually finish their supervision hours. I have heard once you are 6 months into the supervison and I have also heard that one is eligible when you are 1 year into your supervision. Does anyone have information...I prefer a link to a web site that staes these guidelines.

Thanks

Christopher

Would you kindly email your notes them to this email address, ntippi46@yahoo.com, and the name of the resource you got on Ebay? I am looking for study material to so that I can take the LCSW exam. I have looked everywhere and cannot find the appropriate material. Thanks

I am taking the test tomorrow! I graduated 20 years ago, procrastinate, did I?? I have been studying a couple of hours a week for the last couple of months, turned on the juice the last month. I am thinking I probably should have focused on memorizing human development and theories, but there is just TOO much to remember! Am on a wing and a prayer now! Thanks for ALL of the guidance, encouragement and support on this website! At the VERY least, I don't feel so alone!! I took the test 12 years ago and missed by one lousy point! PRAYING!! Thanks, all!
